Ørsted is the world's largest developer of offshore wind farms, built out of the former Danish oil and gas company Dong Energy, which exited fossil fuels and rebranded in 2017.

Ørsted faced serious headwinds in 2025, cutting jobs and raising fresh capital after setbacks in the United States market, but it remains the clearest energy-transition story in European industry.
