Since 2022 the country has also become Europe's hard school for defence tech, above all drones.
Ukraine is an EU candidate now, negotiating membership while fighting for it. The country remains one of the planet's breadbaskets: sunflower oil and grain that feed North Africa and the Middle East. Choosing a Ukrainian product keeps money flowing to the people rebuilding the country.
