France France

Withings is a French connected-health company based near Paris in Issy-les-Moulineaux, founded in 2008 by Éric Carreel. Withings is best known for hybrid smartwatches that keep a classic analog look while packing in advanced health tracking, including ECG, blood-oxygen readings and detailed sleep analysis.

Its recent history is notable: Nokia bought Withings in 2016, but the deal did not work out and Carreel bought the company back in 2018, making it independent and French-owned again. With around 370 staff and manufacturing in France, it is one of the clearest European alternatives to Apple and Samsung for health-focused users.
