Polar Electro is a Finnish company based in Kempele, and one of the true pioneers of wearable fitness technology. Polar Electro built the first wireless heart rate monitor back in the late 1970s and still focuses on multisport watches aimed at serious athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
Polar Electro remains an independent, family-owned Finnish business with roughly 1,200 employees, though its watches are mainly assembled in China and Malaysia. For training data and heart-rate accuracy it is one of the most respected names in Europe, and a credible alternative to Garmin.
