eXo Platform is a family-owned French software company that has been building open-source collaboration tools since the early 2000s. Rather than mailboxes and spreadsheets, its focus is the internal side of an organisation: an intranet, employee communication, shared spaces and community collaboration, which you can self-host or run in the cloud.
That focus has earned it some demanding customers over the years, including the Élysée, the French research institute INRIA, NATO and the US Department of Defense. A free Community Edition lets smaller teams get started, with paid tiers for organisations that need support and enterprise features.
