Lübecker Marzipan PGI is the world's most famous marzipan, made in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck to an exacting standard with a high almond content and very little added sugar. Houses like Niederegger have shaped it into fruits, figures and chocolate-covered loaves for generations.
The imitation is cheap, sugary marzipan made anywhere. Only marzipan produced in Lübeck to the PGI standard may carry the city's name.
