Valrhona is a French premium chocolate maker founded in 1922 in Tain-l'Hermitage, and a favourite of pastry chefs for its couverture, single-origin and grand cru bars. The company also runs the Valrhona École training school and is owned by the French group Savencia.
Valrhona is B Corp certified and works through direct, long-term partnerships with cocoa cooperatives, which makes it one of the sector leaders on ethics. With roughly 500 to 700 staff, it is aimed more at professionals than supermarket shelves.
