Viaplay is a Nordic streaming service known for its Nordic Noir originals, such as Wisting and The Lawyer, and for exclusive live sport in its home markets. After expanding aggressively around the world, it ran into serious financial trouble and went through a major restructuring between 2023 and 2025.
As a result its footprint is now much smaller and focused on the Nordics. Viaplay withdrew from Poland in 2025, exited the Baltics and several other markets, and agreed to sell its Dutch business, while distributing some content elsewhere through partners under the Viaplay Select banner. In its core Nordic markets it remains a strong home for drama and sport.
