MUBI is a London-based curated film service that focuses on arthouse, world and independent cinema rather than trying to carry everything. Mubi has grown well beyond streaming: it produces and theatrically distributes its own films, with the 2024 body-horror hit The Substance its biggest success to date, and it publishes the respected film magazine Notebook.
A 2025 funding round led by Sequoia valued the company at around 1 billion dollars, a sign of how far its model has travelled. The streaming service is available in more than 190 countries, making it one of the most international European film platforms.
