Scarpa began as an association of local shoemakers set up by Rupert Guinness, Earl of Iveagh, who owned a villa in Asolo. The Parisotto brothers bought it in 1956 and the family still holds the majority. In 2024 the Hong Kong and Hermès-linked investor Nuo took a minority stake. Jerzy Kukuczka finished his 14 eight-thousanders in Scarpa Vega boots in 1986. Scarpa patented the first plastic telemark boot in 1992. Revenue was €154 million in 2023 with around 1,570 employees.
