Climber Peter Askulv and friends started Klättermusen as a workshop in Åre. The company was incorporated around 1984. The Swedish private equity firm Scope Capital bought the majority in 2013 to fund international growth, and the Askulv family kept a minority. Gonz Ferrero has been CEO since 2014. Japan is a key market. Klättermusen launched a travel arm in 2024 and turned 50 in 2025. Revenue was SEK 337 million in 2024.
