KIKO Milano was founded in Bergamo in 1997 by the Percassi family and grew into Europe's biggest affordable makeup chain, with more than a thousand shops. Production sits mostly in Italy and elsewhere in the EU, which keeps the brand under EU cosmetics rules on ingredients and animal testing.
It is not a certified B Corp and it does not publish a net-zero date, so it cannot match L'Occitane on paper. What it does well is the product itself: refillable palettes and compacts, a growing range of vegan-labelled formulas, and prices that make the ethical choice the easy one. Cruelty-free status follows from EU law for everything sold in Europe.
Our verdict: strong for the price. The best budget choice on this list, with room to improve on public climate targets.
