Universal Robots essentially invented the modern collaborative-robot (cobot) category in 2008 — robots safe enough to work alongside humans without a safety cage. It remains the most-deployed cobot brand in the world.

American (Teradyne) ownership since 2015 is the structural caveat, but engineering, manufacturing and the Odense robotics-cluster culture remain firmly Danish.
