The Charle brothers started Cdiscount in Bordeaux in 1998 and sold it to the Casino Group two years later. After Casino's financial restructuring in 2024, control passed to a consortium led by Czech investor Daniel Kretinsky's EP Group, so the marketplace is now under Central European ownership. Cdiscount remains the second-largest e-commerce site in France after Amazon and is best known for aggressive pricing on white goods and electronics. Listings and customer service are in French, so it suits French speakers or confident translators.
