Allegro started in 1999 as a Polish auction site and grew into the closest thing Europe has to a home-grown Amazon. Over 160,000 merchants sell on the platform, and it holds close to half of Polish e-commerce. In 2022 Allegro bought the Mall Group, adding Mall.cz in Czechia and Mimovrste in Slovenia, and in 2023 it opened allegro.com so shoppers anywhere in the EU can buy with euro pricing in English. If you want one European marketplace with Amazon-style breadth, this is the one to try first.
