ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross)

Switzerland Switzerland

The ICRC operates in around 100 countries with some 20,000 staff, funded mainly by government grants, Swiss federal contributions and private donors. It founded the modern humanitarian-law framework in 1864 and has been awarded three Nobel Peace Prizes (1917, 1944, 1963).

Under the Geneva Conventions it works inside Russian, Ukrainian, Israeli and Hamas detention facilities, tracing missing persons and monitoring prisoners of war — often the only outside eyes on the ground.
