Vipps started as a project of DNB in Norway and MobilePay as a project of Danske Bank in Denmark. The two merged in 2022 into a single Nordic company headquartered in Oslo, and Finland's Pivo came in with the deal. Like the other schemes on this list, Vipps MobilePay is bank-owned and regulator-supported infrastructure, not a fintech startup.
