BORICA has operated Bulgaria's national payment infrastructure since the 1990s and built blink as the country's instant payments layer on top of it. Joining EuroPA extends the network into the Balkans and into a market that was still outside the eurozone at the time. Cross-border availability for Bulgarian users will follow the same pattern as the other late joiners: P2P first, merchant payments later.
