# Bizum

> <p><strong>Known for:</strong> Spain's payment scheme, with around 30 million users. Phone-number transfers, online checkout and in-store payments through the apps of practically every Spanish bank. One of the three founding members of EuroPA.</p>

Bizum was created in 2016 by a consortium of Spanish banks and grew into the default way Spaniards split a bill. In March 2025 Bizum, Bancomat and MB WAY switched on the first live EuroPA connection, linking over 50 million users and 186 financial institutions across four countries. Bizum has also completed a P2P pilot transaction with BLIK, so the Poland connection is under way.
