IO Interactive is a Copenhagen studio founded in 1998, best known for the Hitman series and its bald assassin, Agent 47. Its unusual claim to fame is that it bought its own independence back from Square Enix in 2017 and now self-publishes.

The current Hitman trilogy is widely seen as the series at its best, and the studio has expanded into new territory, including a James Bond game. IO Interactive is a rare example of a developer that got acquired, disliked it, and bought itself back.
