He built a worldwide brand — bars in Copenhagen, San Francisco, Bangkok, Tokyo — without owning a single production facility. Mikkeller proved that brewing expertise and brand identity could be completely separated from physical infrastructure, inspiring a generation of European contract brewers and reshaping what craft beer branding could look like.
