# Fairphone

>
Known for: Modular Android phones built to be repaired, designed in Amsterdam. The Fairphone (Gen. 6) has 12 replaceable parts, a five-year warranty and software support until 2033, so you replace a battery or screen yourself instead of buying a new phone.

Bas van Abel, Tessa Wernink and Miquel Ballester launched the first Fairphone in 2013, funded largely by customer pre-orders. A €49 million round in 2023 brought in Invest-NL and the ABN AMRO Sustainable Impact Fund, alongside existing investor Quadia. Fairphone launched in the United States in August 2026 with the Fairphone 6+.
