Not all transatlantic flights burn the same fuel. On a given route, the least efficient airlines can use around two-thirds more fuel per passenger than the best, according to the [International Council on Clean Transportation](https://theicct.org)'s transatlantic ranking. The gap comes down to aircraft type, seating density and how full the plane flies.
